Impressive and very nice app! Works as advertised and is keeping my Mac clear of unwanted website garbage & tracking cookies.

This software is fabulous. It does exactly what it says in a very intuitive way. It is perfectly maintaining my privacy as I see fit in four browsers simultaneously: Safari, Chrome, Opera, and Firefox. Yet, it is also possible to configure browsers individually as well. The software detects which browsers are present and provides an initial configuration wizard that is both intuitive and functional. The post-configuration dialog is also easy and obvious to use. It allows the user to select some cookies to always keep while discarding others as you see fit (such as all others). It has been programmed to remove the cookies using different and configurable methods: at login, on browser close, and per time interval. At this time it also does cache, history, favicons, page previews, downloads, secure deletion, sub-domain favoriting, Flash cookies, databases, and Silverlight. SweetP Productions have balanced function, form, flexibility, and performance in this excellent Web privacy software.
Love this app but still an issue with clearing non-faviorte cookies. When the app is running it most times will not remove non-favorite cookies. You have to quite the app and restartthe app and then it works as it should. Thought maybe the 5.03 version would have fixed that. Once that iw fixed this app gets a five star rating!
Overall, Cookie is a great Safari enhancement. Occasionally doesn’t clear non-favorites or delete history as specified in preferences, but otherwise does a great job of automating the task of deleting unwanted cookies, emptying caches and clearing the browser history. The free Safari extension Cookies (from the same maker) was very good, but Cookie is even better.
The app does what it needs to for this user. I like it!
This would be worth the $8 I paid for it if it would stop asking for access to the Macromedia folder every minute or so. With this annoyance, though, it is unusable for me.
I just bought v5 yesterday. So far so good. But I’m going ahead with rating and leaving a review based on my previous experience with v4 (and even back farther than that). I’ve been using Cookie for years now. I love it. The updates are frequent, and this developer seems to be a model developer. I’m happy to see a new version, and I’m happy to throw some more money at it. BECAUSE IT IS GREAT SOFTWARE WITH GREAT SUPPORT. Yes, there were some painful issues for a while with v4, but these were due to DRAMATIC changes to OS X and Safari. Instead of scorn, I think this developer deserves praise for doing a fantastic job with the incredibly difficult mountain Apple dropped on the developer with increased security and sandboxing. I know the average user probably can not understand, but I do (I’m a software engineer), and I say GOOD JOB!! Far too many people think things should be free or freemium, etc… I think most folks don’t understand the amount of work that goes into developing great software, and that is sad. We are missing out on amazing software from very creative and gifted developers because they can not support themselves due to the broken business models that ultimately boil down to uninformed and entitled users who will go blow unGodly amounts of money on früfrü coffee drinks, but scoff at the idea of having to pay for something that takes a lot of time and dedication to build. Developers aren’t ripping people off, but the vast majority of users are ripping developers off. You are not owed software just for having bought a smart phone or computer. In the end, we all lose if this attitude continues. I’m not saying go buy a ton of software, but I am saying be happy with spending money on well written software with excellent support. This application and developer are well worth spending money on. Big thanks for all the updates and great software over the years!!! Hoping to see many more. Cheers!
Great deal for this fine app which will get even better over time . I have been a Cookie 4 user for many years and now that this app is changing over to Cookie 5 I want support for the new OS X that I am using . The developer of Cookie really cares and supports the app and is responsive . I recommend this app to anyone that updates to the newest OS X and wants more control over their privacy .
I love that this app gives me so much control over exactly what companies are trying to sneak into my browser to track me. When visiting a single shopping websites can level 30+ cookies from 10+ companies on your computer (even though you have your browser set to allow cookies from sites you visit) it’s too much. This program makes it easy to delete all of those cookies and cache items without any fuss.
The latest version 5.0.6 wants access to your entire home folder, which is insane considering all data it needs to control is in few folders. So, I uninstalled the app and will look for one that is less invasive.
Its nice to see an app developer respond so quickly to feedback. Great software, it does what browsers should be doing when you clear cookies/cache from within them. Yet, even with the help of LSO removal addons etc, some get missed, and Cookie 5 snags those missed ones (or at least many of them, we may continue to find more and more places where tracking files similar to cookies are being created and stored by browsers). The developers response to my request to address the chrome predictor settings (see chrome://predictors to know what Im speaking, er, typing about) and also responded to some general questions I emailed him in under an hour. Theres nothing worse than an unmaintained app (not only do things stop working, they open up security and privacy holes) - so its great to know this developer cares about his app. I suggest also using the Firefox/Chrome plugins uBlock Origin (and uMatrix if youre up to it), plus keeping your /etc/hosts file up to date with known tracking domains. Then you prevent a lot of cookies being set, and thwart many non-cookie related tracking). Keep in mind there are plenty of ways you are fingerprinted (screen resolution, plugins installed, browser window size, zoom levels, fonts, etc) but all these things definitely help you keep malvertising and small-time data mining firms at bay.
This is a very good cookie, cache & history manager that is simple to use across multiple browsers. It is especially useful with Safari, which has very limited cookie management settings. In particular, it allows you to protect specific cookies, cache and local storeage for individual websites, while deleting the rest. Other browsers have cookie & local storage management settings built in or in add-ons, but this app is useful for global cookie, cache & history management. It did delete settings and data for some Chrome add-ons, but that issue appears to be resolved in the current version (5.06). Overall, this app is well worth the price, especially for Safari users.
